When I was 15 years old, I stumbled upon what I believed to be the formula for a biological alien weapon; the Zerg. But before I can get on to the Zerg formula, I have to establish a setting first, so here goes.
In Ohio during the middle of every Sophomore's year, they have to take a test called the OGT (Ohio Graduation Test). This test must be completed before the student graduates. If you fail the OGT, you are stupid enough to be pitied on. Fail it more than once - and no offense to anyone - but you are mentally retarded. I almost failed the Writing portion and that is my only weak point school-wise.
I had just completed 1 of the 5 portions of the OGT (I can't remember which), and started my usual sleep till the bell rings. Turns out my desk was really cold and that made my hands freezing which in turn woke me up. I had been drooling in my sleep so I casually reached inside my bag to start doing my Biology homework with my Biology textbook so I could cover it up.
While flipping the pages I stumbled on something very interesting. Something that could only make since if you wake up at 6 in the morning every day. Some sort of experiment with biological ingredients no Average Joe could come up with!
Basically you get a 10 gallon aquarium tank and fill it with dirt, and have enough water in there to make a miniature "pond" as well. You plant Mung Beans (a bean that requires constant hot weather that grows in India) in the dirt. Once there's enough green to Photosynthesize, you add 10 crickets and 10 potato bugs. In the "pond" you add 10 Daphnia (aka Water Fleas) which feed on algae? If I'm not mistaken I think you also add a couple Guppies to feed on the Water Fleas.
What does this have to do with the Zerg? Given a few million years they may evolve into the creatures we fear most. But most likely not. Radiation may make things interesting, but probably not interesting enough. If there were any species on Earth likely enough to become the Zerg, it would have to be African Army Ants. Not only do they live in colonies, but they are famous for swarming and consuming anything in their path.
This is bettadud and you just got rambled.
EDIT: I was rummaging through old school work and I actually found the paper I wrote it down on! Haha, if anyone is even interested the ingredients are as follows:
Plants: Grass seeds, Clover seeds, 10 Mung Bean seeds, Algae, 2 Anacharis strands, 3 Fontinallis strands.
Animals: 6 Mealworms, 6 Crickets, 4-6 Potato Bugs, 3 Earthworms, 4 Guppies or Platys, Pond Snails & Black Ram's Horn Snails, 10 Daphnia
